NEW YEAR’S EVE COUNTDOWN CLOCK
This New Year Countdown Clock craft is a great activity to work on fine motor skills while also teaching your child about time!
The clock’s hands move, and each flap is lifted to reveal the minute quantities, so a child can learn and practice how to read a clock. :)
For this craft you will need:
-This print out: New Year Countdown Clock Craft (we printed our on cardstock for a more sturdy base)
-paper plate
-Brad or Brass Fastners
-pipe cleaners (optional)
-Crayons
-Scissors
-Glue
-hole punch (optional)
Instructions:
There is a quick video demonstrating each step below as well.
Color the clock face however you’d like.
2. Cut everything out
3. On the clock face, cut between each number to the solid line.
4. Fold up each flap to the inner circle line.
5. This step is for parents: use scissors to prep where the brad fastener will have to poke through (see video below). You can poke the brad through now and glue everything together later, or you can glue everything after pre-poking the holes.
6. Glue the clock face to the 2nd clock page. Glue everything to the paper plate.
don’t forget to glue on the clock hands. The brad fastener should poke through everything and you’ll be able to secure it at the back of the paper plate. We are gluing everything down just to make sure the clock portion doesn’t move around.
7. Under the flap, write the minute value that associates with each flap.
8. If you’d like, poke holes through the plate below each number.
9. Thread the pipe cleaners or string to decorate your clock. You can also string beads on the pipe cleaners/string to make it more festive!
