Why Audiology Matters

Audiologists are specialists in evaluating and treating people with hearing loss. At EJ Therapy, we believe that audiology is a cornerstone of overall health and well-being. Early screenings, assessments, and interventions can have a profound impact on communication, learning, and quality of life.

 

Audiologists facilitate learning and communication access through:

specialized assessments; monitoring personal hearing instruments; recommend, fit and manage hearing assistance technology; provide and recommend support services and resources; and advocate on behalf of the individual

Services We Offer

-       Complete audiological evaluation from birth to adulthood

-       Annual assessment of hearing, including an interpretation of the result to the teacher and/or parent

-       Application of knowledge and speech perception and speech pathology to the speech problems of deaf and hard of hearing children

Audiology in Schools

-Our educational audiologists are a vital part of the support system in schools. They collaborate with teachers and professionals to ensure students have access to the best learning environments.

 

Educational audiologists are audiologists that work within the schools to:

-       provide evidence for needed services and technology

-       emphasize access skills and supports

-       counsel children to promote personal responsibility and self-advocacy

-        maintain student performance levels

-       collaborate with private sector audiologists

-       assist in student transitions

-       team with other school professions to work most effectively to facilitate student learning

The Audiology Booth


Located in our Wooster clinic, our state-of-the-art audiology booth plays a crucial role in providing specialized services. It is where we conduct screenings and diagnostics.

Early Screening and Newborn Services

-Early screening is a key element in hearing health. We offer newborn hearing screenings and Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) testing to assess the hearing of very young children.

Children from Birth to 3 Years of Age:

-       Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR) Testing: ABR testing is a valuable tool for assessing the hearing of very young children who cannot participate in traditional hearing assessments.
