Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time for family, gratitude, and delicious food. However, it can also be stressful with a lot of commotion and changes in routine. This can be difficult for some children, so here are some tips and resources for you to utilize this Thanksgiving.

Tips to help your child through Thanksgiving

  • Have a quiet space reserved if your child needs a sensory break.

  • If your child does not enjoy certain foods or has dietary restrictions, make a meal just for them.

  • Try to stick to your normal routine as much as possible.

  • Use a visual schedule for any changes that may occur.

  • Be sure to let your child understand what is expected of them.

  • If you are going to an unfamiliar place, arrive early so your child can get acclimated before everyone comes.
